The strong jet over the Pacific continues over the weekend with another deep trough moving into the West Coast late in the weekend or early next week keeping temperatures colder than average. The storm will exit on Thursday with dry weather Friday. Winds in the coastal and valley areas will also be quite strong Tuesday and Wednesday, from 15-30 mph with gusts to 40 mph. Strong west winds will accompany this storm with gusts 40 to 60 mph in the mountains and deserts. The weather turns progressively colder and wetter late Sunday through Wednesday. More 70+ degree highs are forecast west of the mountains Saturday as an upper ridge moves across SoCal. Highs today eclipsed 70 degrees at a few spots west of the mountains including Fullerton (73), Chino (71), and Temecula (75). Most of the moisture was in the 500-300 mb layer where the mid and high clouds are. The Precipitable Water on the 00Z NKX sounding was 0.43" which is lower than it has been lately. Skies were generally clear this evening and will remain mostly clear Saturday with scattered mid and high clouds over the Pacific drifting eastward across CA the next 24 hours.
